Alexander movie review

aaaahhhhhh well last night I went to see the movie Alexander. I figured since Troy had disappointed me so that I would give these kinds of movies one last go. The main cast consisted of Colin Farell, as alexander (who has always done a wonderful job), Rosario Dawson, as his first wife (whom I?ve never seen before), Anthony Hopkins, as the narrator and former general under Alexander (who is one of the lords of film), Angelina Jolie, as his mother (who?s acting I?ve never liked), and Val Kilmer, as his father (whom I didn?t even recognize in the movie)

First off I?d like to say ?wow? It wasn?t one of those movies where you stand up at the end and scream at the top of your lungs ?That Rocked!!!! Can?t wait for the sequel!!!? because most everyone died? as tends to happen as we?re all mortal ^_^

Anyways the cast was really well picked. I can only fault one part in Colin Farell?s performance, but it was at a very odd part in the movie. He didn?t really have any lines but I didn?t like his facial expressions? Maybe I?m being a bit too critical >_> Nevertheless it was a stunning performance.

Anyways I actually thought the person who turned out the best performance throughout the entire movie was Angelina Jolie!!!! I have never been a fan of hers, but now that I think about it the parts that she?s had before haven?t been very complex.
Val Kilmer also did a wonderful job. He made you hate and love this character to the point of tears.

The movie is a bit slow to start but once it starts you never look at your watch again. As I stated above the performances by the actors were wonderful, dark, and beautiful. And while the war scenes get really long and repetitive, as most war scenes tend to do, the actors make you forget your watching a movie and pull you into this epic tale.

And if that isn?t enough to make you wanna go see it I will just say this?.
There are enough ?scenes? to make any fangirl squeal ^_^
Jared Leto plays Hephaistion, Alexander?s gay lover >o< it?s a pretty big milestone in theatre in terms of very popular and expensive movies. Although the only love scene is with Alexander?s first wife ;_; *whines* I wanna see the boys make-out [img]graemlins/kiss.gif[/img]

Anyways this film, I thought, was really worth the three hours of my time ^_^

oh!!! i read about this film the other day... and when they said that they didn't cut out the whole thing with Hephaistion, i was ecstatic.. X3 and also kinda surprised.

i'd like to see the movie. <<;; but it hasn't come out here yet, as far as i know.... i'm not really the movie type. ^^;;

A bit late, but it did take some time till it comes to Europe. Love the movie and am totally addicted!
Personally I think it's not bad that they cut out a sex scene but they should have cut out the other too. I don't like it 'cause the movie would get a cheap touch.
But I'm sure my friend would love it... maybe one day there will be a special edition when it's on DVD.

well, personally, i'm a big jared leto's fan since requiem for a dream so when i knew he was playing Hephaistion's part in alexander i ran to watch it, and OMG he was so great, i mean, he's beautiful for christ's sake!! but what i didn't like about it is the fact that oliver stone accepted that Alexander and Hephaistion had a homosexual affair, but then in the movie was like: ok, I love him and he loves me *hugs hugs* what the hell? i know it was a comercial movie for the not very open-minded comercial people but if you are accepting it, then do it right. I liked it a lot in general and Angelina Jolie did a great acting on this one...

oh, and if you're goin to put Colin Farrell blonde then do something about the eyebrows too... ~.^

Well I haven?t seen requiem for a dream... yet X? but I had seen Fight Club... and that didn?t leave a very lasting impression as he was mutilated for half the movie *sobs* (for the people who don?t know he was the blond kid who had the $#!& beaten out of him by Edward Nortons character)

And I heartily agree that Jared Leto as Hephaistion was very hot and very F-able XD and I don?t think Oliver Stone was running away from that. It?s just a very hard thing to bring into the public eye... especially right now... *twitches* not to say I wasn?t disappointed that they only hugged. I mean I was one of those people screaming out ?Kiss God Damnit!!! Fucking Throw Him Down On Your Bed And Screw Him Senseless!!!? okay so maybe I wasn?t screaming it but I was whispering it to the people I went to see it with >_>;; I think the people around me heard it too cuz I got some looks as I walked out of the theatre..... ehehehe ~_~;;

And yeah... the eyebrows... *shrugs* I didn?t even notice as all my attention was on the hot Bishi on his right.... *^_^*

I think it's because it should look more than simple love. And I'm sure all drooling fangirls will see more even when the DVD is out. As for me, I liked it as it was.
